Ground Thread
Used for pipe fittings and the sizes are determined by the nominal pipe size.
Interrupted Thread – Every other thread is eliminated. This is helpful where chip clearance is needed or coolant flow is obstructed. Works well in moldmaking. Can work well on cast aluminum and cast iron.
NPTF – For tapping dryseal tapered pipe threads. The NPTF threads are made to interfere (seal) the root and crest when mated. This creates a pressure-tight joint which will prevent leakage even without the use of a sealant. This is the primary thread type for gas pipelines.
